Although we came back looking like we’d just jumped in a swimming pool, and with faces as red as tomatoes, the Grade 12 English class’s valley walk was most definitely worth it. Accompanied by our trustworthy guide, Mrs. Simpson, we hiked up mountains, and down valleys, all under the sun’s beating rays.
Okay, that might have been a slight exaggeration. But it was hot, and it was a long walk. Anyone who saw us come back into the school can attest to that.
Anyways, the walk was beautiful. We strolled through bamboo forests, down cobblestone streets, under green, leafy canopies of leaves. We saw a total of 2 cars, 4 goats, and about 25 dogs. All the while, our cameras whirred and clicked like a mad storm of insects.
What really stood out (at least for me) about the valley was how incredibly quiet it was (except for the barking of the dogs, of course). It felt like we were the only people in the world, standing there, staring down at the lush greenery that sprawled out for miles below us. We could see the faint outline of the still-snow-covered mountain in the distance, countless farms, and numerous little houses nestled up against the sides of the valley. It was serene, and the hour and a half that we spent there felt like minutes.
Anyone who has a chance to should definitely check out the valley walk, camera in hand. It’s a challenging route for the avid jogger, a peaceful walk for the nature-lover, a photo-op for the photography enthusiast, and most definitely a part of Lanciano that has to be experienced, not simply read about.
This sounds lovely! :D I'm sooo jealous!
